It has been quite some time ever since the launch of iOS 7 that it has received mixed reviews. The new features and the refurbished user interface (UI) is certainly great but it caused impact upon the battery life as well. There are constant issues cropping up related to faster battery drain. If you own an iPad, iPhone 5 or an iPhone 4S then you too might be a victim of fast battery drain. This might be a common problem with mobile devices but it sure is annoying and seems frustrating that your iPhone battery life is just 20% by the end of the day.

It is essential to understand why your iOS device is suffering from constant battery drain. It is designed to provide the best performance with things like apps, good speed and great graphics. All this put together add up to more battery consumption.

Even though, Apple has yet to issue official fix to the battery trouble, but meanwhile you can do with some tips for increasing the battery life of your iOS device.

Brightness level

If you think that having a bright screen tuned on to full blast is helping you then you are wrong. The brightness level of your iPhone should be appropriate enough to make the screen comfortable to read. Full brightness turned on often results in battery drain, here is what you can do to counter it:

Go to Settings-> Display and Brightness then, switch off the option of Auto-brightness. Doing this will enable the manual mode. You will be able to make settings related to brightness percentage. You should set the brightness level to 30%. Now, power off your phone for about 5-10 minutes and then turn it on again. When you turn it on, the brightness level will be toned down.

Bluetooth

You might not have observed that when you turned on your iPhone for the first time the Bluetooth is active. The norm with iOS has a default setting enabling the Bluetooth. You still do not know that this too is a sure battery drainer. If you are not using it then you should turn it off.

Using Flight mode and Wi-Fi

You might not have noticed but when there is no connectivity, your phone automatically goes on searching for network. The activity is a sure way of consuming battery juice. You should make it a habit of switching the Flight Mode on where there is not cellular coverage to save the battery power.

Another thing to notice here is that when you are on the 3G network mode chances are that the battery juice starts draining fast as compared to Wi-Fi use. It clearly indicates that you need to switch on the Wi-Fi instead of using LTE/3G utility. Another alternate would be turning off the LTE when not required and working only on 3G if you require it.

GPS location

There are many apps that use the GPS location for real-time tracking. Often, the activity is nothing more than keeping track of user location data. However, this does add to battery consumption.

The Parallax Effect

The 3D effect came up because of the new OS update that makes the Home Screen come alive. Whenever you move your device, the icon seems to hover along the background. It certainly seems great to look at, but you do not know that it is causing significant battery drain. You need to turn this off, as it is not required. Go to Settings-> General-> Accessibility, tap on the option of Reduce Motion and toggle.

Disable Raise to Speak

Using the Siri functionality that activates with raise to speak is great and convenient. However, for this functionality to work the proximity sensor is always active. Why not use another alternate of press and hold to save battery power. It is advisable that you turn off this feature by going to Settings-> General-> Siri.

Background refreshing

With the iOS 7 there are a lot of things that you can do, multitasking is one of them. It does help a lot but the system resources are compromised causing a significant lag. You can choose apps that are allowed to refresh on the background. Go to Settings-> General-> Background App Refresh, and then toggle to choose the app that is allowed to refresh.

The tips mentioned are easy to apply and will certainly make a lot of difference to the battery life of your iPhone.
