Everybody loves cars everybody wants and needs a car for different reasons. Some want it just because they want to go to work and other places with their family, some want to show off that they have money some need it because there are many important things that cannot be done without a car or any other means of transport. Now there are many people who cannot afford a car but need it because a car is essential for the work they do. On the other hand there are people who have more cars than they need. This is where car donation comes in. To put it bluntly car donation is the process where people give away their cars to the people who need it. Now this is not as simple and straightforward as it sounds.

After the car is donated the use of that car depends on the donation receiver. Some of the non profit organizations use cars for commuting and transportation, some sell of the charity and use the money for their organization. To carry out the task of donation several organizations carry out car donation charities wherein the donors do their deed.

In the 21st century to think that somebody would do something good without expecting any good in return is nothing short of a crime. In some cases the donations are made because the donors want to get rid of the old cars, in some cases the donations are made because the donors generally want to help and want to do the needful for the needy. However in most of the cases people donate cars to reap, so to speak, the tax benefits. The tax benefits are given to the donors after certain stringent conditions are adhered to, and the same is verified and scrutinized by the officials.

The first and foremost condition is that the donor needs to present a letter of acknowledgement stating that the donated car has been sold by the charity and used appropriately. It also need to be made sure that the fund generated out of the charity is used appropriately and not squandered by the people running the whole gamut. Another condition is that car donation charity must generate more funds than the basic bottom line set by the top echelons of tax department.

Many of the critics despise the whole shebang as nothing but tax shelter. Even though car donation is definitely used as a tax shelter but that fact that some good is coming out of the process car donation cannot be negated. Some of the best car donation charity and non profit organization are habitat for humanity-car for homes; feed the children, car talk, American cancer society, UNICEF etc.

Thus although many despise and doubt this new way of donating in the form of cars, it has been quite popular in the recent times because of its benefits both for the donor and receptor and there is no doubt that in the times to come the process of car donation will only get fiercer and betters.
